Corbans Estate Trip

Aloha

Yesterday our middle school syndicate went on a trip to the Corban Estate Art Centre. I was very excited when we got there. We got there by bus and some parents came with us on the trip.

There was an Art Centre at the Corbans Estate and there were Pacifica Mamas that taught us to do drumming and to make leis. When we finished making the leis we had to give it to someone special. At the end we learnt how to do a Hawaiian dance.

In the drumming there were different types of drums called log drums and skin drums. I played a log drum and learned how to play it. You use a stick to hit the drum near the mouth in the middle. It was a bit hard to remember the pattern.

The most interesting part was learning how to say hello and thank you in different languages. There were three Pacifica Mamas that taught us to do the drumming and making the leis.

Blog ya later!👋
